Description
Photograph of a meeting held on the site of the Beckley blast furnace, June 8, 1946, to turn over to the State Park and Forest Commission a deed for the furnace and about two acres of land. Among the attendees was Clara M. Beckley of Pittsfield, MA, granddaughter of John Adam Beckley. The Beckley furnace was built on the Blackberry River in 1837 by John Adam Beckley, descendant from a long line of iron-masters, and continued in operation until the early 1880s. An article on this meeting appears in the 62nd annual report of the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers, p. 203-205.
