This issue of Contact from February, 1978 features articles and information about the upcoming Afro-American History Week at UConn. Included is an article on the theme of this year’s celebration, “Roots--Many Branches but One Tree”; a piece on the founder of Afro-American History week, Dr. Carter G. Woodson; and information about the new director of the Afro-American Cultural Center, Curtis Daye. There is also a Program of Events for the week, a banquet menu, and descriptions of films put on by the Wilbur Cross Library and the Afro-American Cultural Center. The issue also contains information about some of the upcoming speakers, including Henry E. Parker, Mutahhir A. Sabree, Eman Nuriddin Faiz, and Dr. William C. Parker. In addition, there is a poem by James Weldon Johnson.
