Contains letters from merchants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as letters from army commanders, addressed to Joseph Trumbull and Deputy Commissary General of Purchases, Peter Colt, regarding allocation and distribution of flour, pork, and beef to Continental Army as troops travel to Elizabeth Town (Elizabeth City), NJ and New York. Also, includes letters relating to the Battle of Block Island (April 6, 1775), and how this might affect the shipment of supplies to New York.
