Description
Interior shot of a schoolroom facing the classroom door and an unoccupied teachers desk piled with box and with a bell, globe, alarm clock and ink well(?) A chalk board with "History Drill Facts, Avon #3" and a list of historical statements on Colonial America written on it is behind the teacher's desk. Two other black boards with what appear to be English grammar lessons are hung on the walls of the room along with several pictures. A "Forest Oak" cast iron stove stands on the center of the room. Four boys and a girl are visible at desks to the left of the stove.Schoolhouse no.3 was built and opened in 1823 and used until 1938. In 1981 it was rescued from demolition by the Avon Historical Society and concerned local citizens and turned into the Living Museum.
