Bridgeport's history is Black. From the city's founding up into the present day, this has been a simple truth. In order to help researchers, local historians, and those looking to celebrate local Black history, we have placed relevant collections into this part of the Connecticut Digital Archive. In the case of Little Liberia - a section of Bridgeport that housed people of African descent who escaped enslavement or were born free - there is intersectionality with the Golden Hill Paugussett Nation.
