This issue of Contac from March, 1973 includes an account of Samuel Yette’s talk at UConn, an article on Alex Haley and his search for his African heritage, as well as a piece on the activism of Malcolm X. This issue also features an article describing the musical performance of Babatunde Olatunji, whose concert at UConn was part of Black History Week. Additionally, the issue contains information about a Jazz Workshop held at UConn, as well as a review of the play, “No Place to Be Somebody.” There is a report of a fashion show held in the Student Union, and an editorial discussing the neglect of UConn’s Black House, which houses the newspaper office & serves as a meeting place for members of the black community.
