Double Bitted “Axe” Labrys (Bulgaria 1500 - 1200 BCE) This bronze labrys was an early form of currency in the European Bronze Age. While shaped like an axe, this form of currency was not intended to be used as a tool, and was standardized to convey a stable trade value.
